Have you had the sense this year time is moving really, really, really fast? I know we are all busy, but the sense that our platform, our life, is almost totally out of control is a tangible feeling. Think about it.
We elect a governor who was not liked by many of the citizens of our state, and three days after his election we are told our electric bill is going up 25 percent starting in the beginning of 2015. Then we’re told that, due to revenue shortfall, we are starting to show new serious deficits now at $58 million with no end in sight. Then our president vows to rule by decree and subvert our rights and the rights of our children to allow 5 million illegal immigrants and their children to become fellow citizens.
Jobs are increasing — if you want part-time work at a Bergerdoodle or to be a greeter at the door of one of the big chain stores, many of which just up and close their doors and move out of the neighborhood.
We take care of our parents, our grandchildren and the world. We are told America is no longer the place of hope and growth. We are failing, moving toward Third World status. We try and keep our homes and families together and feel conflicted, with constant stress in all areas of our world: our kids, our careers, our parents, our homes. We go from one problem to the next. Time to slow down!
We must take a personal inventory, make a list of the good stuff, and move through our world with a sense of direction and honest ambition. And for the next six weeks enjoy the season of wonder and the celebration of light. Remember America is the city on the hill — the city of light.
